Unladylike, hosted by Cristen Conger, is a feminist lifestyle podcast that sounds like a comforting group text, a pin drop of context and the joy of not laughing at unfunny men. Blending unforgettable storytelling, surprising interviews and shameless advice, Unladylike explores what it really takes to choose your choices, from birth control and Botox to becoming Big Freedia.
ABOUT THE HOST
Welcome, y’all. My name is Cristen Conger (she/her), and I’m the creator of the Webby Award-winning podcast Unladylike and cofounder of Unladylike Media. My accidental podcast life began in 2009 as co-creator and co-host of the podcast Stuff Mom Never Told You, now a part of the iHeartMedia network.
I’m also the co-author of Unladylike: A Field Guide to Smashing the Patriarchy and Claiming Your Space (Ten Speed Press, 2018), which Kirkus Reviews called “a must-have feminist survival guide for the Trump era.” A former weekend contributor at Refinery29, my writing has also appeared on Jezebel, Huffington Post Women, Bitch Media, xoJane and A Practical Wedding.
A seasoned speaker on gender, feminism and women’s histories, I’ve connected with audiences ranging from summer campers and museumgoers to uniformed coast guards and on stages from SXSW Interactive and Creative Mornings to MailChimp and The Carter Center. Whether on the mic, on the page or onscreen, I see no stereotype too superficial, no inequality too insurmountable, and no topic too taboo to confront with credibility and candor.
